Startup Acceleration

Africa Technology and Innovation Accelerator's (AfTIA) has an early stage and Growth stage Acceleration program.

Investment Fund

AfTIA Early Stage Fund & AfTIA Growth Fund available for Early stage and Growth stage respectively.

Eligibility Criteria


Applicants with prototypes in any of the following domains are welcome to submit their startups for consideration:

Technology in Finance (FinTech)
Technology in Agriculture (AgriTech)
Technology in Education (EdTech)
Technology in Governance (GovTech)
Technology in Health (HealthTech)


Applicants for incubation support must also meet the following criteria

Individuals external to University of Nairobi

  1. The primary applicant be Kenyan by nationality.
  2. Kenyans can apply for incubation for an innovation which was jointly developed with non-Kenyans
  3. Must have registered their innovation with relevant regulatory agencies
  4. The innovation must not be incubated in another incubator at the same time
  5. Provide proof of ownership of the innovation.
  6. Innovation must have a demonstrated potential for commercialization.
  7. Innovation for incubation must be relevant to Kenya’s development agenda
  8. Applicants must provide a detailed description of their innovation as prescribed in the application form
  9. Applicants must provide a summary business plan at the time of application
Staff and students of University of Nairobi

  1. Staff and students of UON applying for incubation
  2. Innovation by all bonafide staff members and students of the University of Nairobi, hereafter referred to internal applicants, are eligible
  3. Internal applicants shall meet the basic criteria
  4. Must have registered their innovation with relevant regulatory agencies.
  5. Applicants must provide a detailed description of their innovation as prescribed in the application form
  6. Applicants must provide a summary business plan at the time of application
  7. The University shall give priority to internal applicants

We are looking forward to the launch of AfTIA. We envision a new way of moving from simple incubation to
the actual production and development
